Department of Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering finds application in all fields of technology. It is one of the primitive branches of Engineering which have remained always in demand and continue to be in the future. This is why Mechanical trade is called as an Evergreen trade (branch). Mechanical engineers have always been needed as an essential staff personnel in various industries of both public and private sector. Their work criteria changes according to the type and domain of the company they are working with.As the Industrial sector has drastically risen in pace, the need for more mechanical engineers has increased exponentially. Every manufacturing and production industry needs mechanical engineers to carry out jobs efficiently and flawlessly for their companies.

  1. Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Power LAB
  2.     These lab sessions are intended to make the studen ts understand the different methods of flow rates in pipe flow and open channel flows, conversi on of hydraulic energy possessed by the water in running turbines and how pumps are used to increase the hydraulic energy of the water etc.

  4.    In this laboratory, students will have the opportunity to study the working principle of IC engines (both SI and CI engines), performance and characteristics in terms of heat balancing, economical speed variations, air fuel ratio influence on the engine to reinforce classroom theory by having the student perform required tests, analyze subsequent data, and present the results in a professionally prepared report. The machines and equipment used to determine experimental data include cut models of 4stroke diesel engine, 2stroke petrol engine, 4stroke and two stroke petrol engines with required specifications, Multi cylinder SI engine, Single cylinder Diesel engine for performance and speed test which is suitable to tests on variable compression ratios

  5. Computer Integrated Manufacturing Lab
  6.    A course/laboratory in Computer Integrated Manufacturing system as an integral part of a Mechanical Engineering Technology program.A course /laboratory in CIM system at sripc provides an industriallevel training in an educational environment.

  8.    Strength of Materials Laboratory offers facilities for testing building materials for their strength, behavior and suitability for various applications
