Continuing Education Centre of the Polytechnic has established under the Canada India Institutional Cooperation Project during 2015.It offers a wide range of short term programs in Engineering & Technology that exactly meet the needs of the industry and community. All the programs are "tailor-made" and aim at creating interest, awareness, and satisfaction among the participants. The State Project Co-ordination Unit awards certificates, Directorate of Technical Education, and Government of Tamil Nadu. So far, 300 candidates have benefitted through this center. Under this Project, SRI RANGANATHAR INSTITUTE OF POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE has identified the following Thrust Areas for ensuring Total Personality Development of the staff and students, Total Institutional Development and Total Quality Management at all levels.
Strategic Planning is a future-oriented, continuous process of clarifying the Polytechnic’s Mandate and Mission, analyzing its internal environment in terms of its strengths and weaknesses, its facilities, processes and systems and its external environments by identifying opportunities and threats and to take action inconsistent with its Mandate, Mission and Goals.
Strategic planning is the Polytechnic College's process of defining its strategy, or direction, and making decisions on allocating its resources to pursue this strategy, including its capital and people. Various business analysis techniques can use in strategic planning; including SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats)/ Strategic planning is the formal consideration of a Polytechnic College's future course. All strategic planning deals with at least one or all of three key questions:
In the present scenario of strategic planning, the fourth question is as to "How can we overcome or excel competition?”. But this approach is more about overcoming competitors than about excelling. In many Polytechnic Colleges, this viewed as a process for determining where a Polytechnic College is going over the next year or—more typically—3 to 5 years (long term), although some extend their vision to 20 years.
To determine where it is going, the Polytechnic College needs to know precisely where it stands, then decide where it wants to go and how it will get there. The resulting document is called the "strategic plan."
While strategic planning may be used to plot an organization's long-term direction effectively, one cannot use it to reliably forecast how the market will evolve and what issues will surface in the immediate future. Therefore, strategic innovation and thinking with the "strategic plan" have to be a cornerstone aspect for a Polytechnic College to survive the current turbulent vocational education climate.
