Tamil Pudhalvan Scheme

Overview

The Tamil Pudhalvan Scheme is an initiative of the Government of Tamil Nadu aimed at supporting boys studying in Government Schools to pursue higher education by providing monthly financial assistance.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a male student
  • Must have studied Classes 6 to 12 in a Tamil Nadu Government School
  • Must be enrolled in a recognized college in Tamil Nadu
  • UG programs: Arts, Science, Engineering, Technology, Polytechnic, Medical, Nursing, etc.
  • Must have a valid Aadhaar-linked bank account

Benefits

  • ₹1,000 per month
  • Provided for the entire undergraduate course duration
  • Amount transferred directly to the student’s bank account (DBT)
  • Helps meet travel, stationery, exam fees, and personal expenses

Pudhumai Penn Scheme

Overview

The Pudhumai Penn Scheme, officially known as the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme, is an initiative of the Government of Tamil Nadu to encourage girls to pursue higher education.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Girl student from a Government / Government-aided school (Class 6–12)
  • Admitted to a recognized college (Government / Aided / Private)
  • Regular undergraduate program
  • Completed schooling entirely in Tamil Nadu

Benefits

  • ₹1,000 per month
  • Paid for the entire UG course duration
  • Transferred via DBT to student bank account
  • Supports books, travel, hostel, and personal expenses

Saksham Scholarship

What is it?

AICTE scholarship for differently-abled students pursuing technical education (Degree / Diploma).

Eligibility

  • Disability of at least 40%
  • Annual family income ≤ ₹8 lakhs
  • Admission in AICTE-approved institution
  • Only technical courses

Benefits / Amount

  • Tuition Fee Support: up to ₹30,000 per year
  • Contingency Allowance: ₹2,000 per month (10 months)
  • Supports books, equipment, transport, assistive software

Pragati Scholarship

PM YASASVI Scholarship

  • Top Class School / College students

  • Class 11–12: up to ₹1,25,000/year

SC/ST Scholarship – About the Scheme

The SC/ST Scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) to support their higher education. The scheme ensures equal access to education by reducing financial barriers and encouraging students to pursue academic excellence without difficulty.

Objectives of the Scholarship

  • To promote higher education among SC/ST students.
  • To encourage continued education and reduce dropout rates.
  • To empower students through inclusive and equitable educational opportunities.

  • The student must belong to the SC, ST & SCC category.
